MDeverywhere Announces Product Enhancement to Support the Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI)
December 31, 2007 – Hauppauge, NY MDeverywhere released a new software feature today to support CMS’ physician quality reporting initiative, or PQRI.
The 2008 PQRI program encourages quality improvement through the use of clinical performance measures on a variety of clinical conditions. Physicians and other eligible professionals who successfully report on a designated set of quality measures through claims submitted for services provided from January 1st to December 31st, 2008, may earn a bonus payment of 1.5% of total allowed charges for covered Medicare services.
MDeverywhere’s solution incorporates a knowledge base which supports the 119 quality measures. If the patient is eligible for the measure (i.e. their age, diagnosis and procedure support the measure), the system will ask the physician a question(s) at the point of care which the physician answers with a simple “Yes” or “No”. Based on the physician’s response, MDeverywhere’s software automatically codes the CPT II code. Capturing this information electronically at the point of care while the visit is being documented creates a seamless workflow in capturing the code and ensuring eligibility for the bonus.
